Resort was nice and good value for money spent. Beach was a little small and high tide tended to minimize space in afternoon. Rooms were cleanly and adequate. Spa services were affordable and good value but tended to be fairly busy to schedule. Food choices were good and never usually any wait for seating and nice to have 3 different options for food. Mainly an adults resort which is what we were looking for with limited kids. Location was a little further south of Holetown and not walking distance to shops and such but buses were easily accessible. Resort had power generator issues during our stay and power was intermittent for 2-3 days. Hopefully this is completely resolved. Pools were adequate but small. No view of beach from either pool. Staff was friendly and helpful. If you are looking for a relaxing vacation that is affordable with good quality food and don't want to hassle with exploring the island, then this is a good option. We actually enjoyed some of the local restaurants and locales so we probably will not choose an all-inclusive destination on our next trip to Barbados. However, enjoyed our stay with minor deficits.

My boyfriend and I planned to stay two nights in Prospect Bay, and ended up staying for 3. Waves Beach Resort was not only the perfect location for exploring the surrounding countryside and tourist sites, but the owner of the resort was lovely. Bikes and motorbikes for hire, an ample spread for dinner and breakfast, and genuine advice on the best ways to explore UK. They're also extremely helpful in booking trips to other places, and will give you their honest opinion about each option. Hands down one of the best values for the money I've had in a long time.

If you're looking for a 5 star resort, this isn't the place for you. If you're looking for a beautiful resort with excellent food, friendly service and wonderful rooms this is the place you've been searching for! We had a ground floor room with a patio overlooking the ocean. The rooms are clean, somewhat modern and offer many amenities. There are 2 beautiful pools onsite if you're not in the mood for the beach. The staff are friendly and helpful. Whether you want to laze on the beach or explore the island, the staff will help you achieve what you're looking for. The hotel is mostly tiled which makes for a lot of echoes/noise. There are some areas in need of small cosmetic repair, however, it seemed these items were being worked on. Overall, my husband and I enjoyed our visit tremendously, and hope to make regular visits to The Waves Beach Resort!

We very much enjoyed our first visit to Barbados and Waves Beach Resort. The staff was welcoming and friendly and Barbados is breathtaking. Unfortunately, most of the property is arranged for the British...everything from unusable electrical outlets in all of the east wing, to afternoon tea. The meals in the buffet dining room were quite good, but the east wing restaurant and the other a la carte restaurants were not as good and the portions were meager. We enjoyed two dinners out a great deal more.

I really enjoyed staying at the Waves Beach Resort. The hotel was very modern/ art deco and the views were glorious. The room itself was amazing being 2 stories! I've never stayed in a hotel like that before. The food was really good and there were plenty of beverages to go around. I'm not much of a mixed drink person but I liked the extensive drink list and champagne cocktails offered. I also enjoyed the safeness of the hotel/beach areas and the detailed information booklet in our room (really nice for a first timer to Barbados). The only corrective feedback I would have to say is I thought there were quite a few inconsistencies in customer service. Some employees were friendly while others seem to be in auto pilot mode. Nobody was rude in the least but I thought the friendliness would be more consistent throughout the staff. Other than that, I had a great time at Waves and I would stay there again. Thanks! :)

Got an awesome deal through Groupon for a 4 night stay that we couldn't pass up. We had never been to Barbados before and after staying at Waves, I'm sure we will be back. Friendly and helpful staff answered any question and just about any request without always being in your face asking if you needed anything. Made for a relaxing few days lounging on the beach with an endless supply of rum and coke ;)

My husband and I chose to stay at Waves for a week long vacation to Barbados at the end of Oct. Two of my biggest concerns in general about Barbados were safety and cleanliness. I used this as the primary determining factor when it came to our choice of hotel. All things considered, I feel Waves was a great decision! First impression - The airport is simple, clean and easy to navigate. The car rental companies are located outside and easy to find. The rental process is relatively quick and easy. For a US Citizen, I think driving on the opposite side of the road is always a bit stressful and intimidating at first. Don't let that stop you from renting a car. I strongly suggest getting the GPS, it makes it so much easier to get around and eliminates car fights! The hotel itself is smaller and does not offer typical resort curb appeal. It is also located off of a busy road which divides the resort into two sections. The lobby is small, but you will easily find the front desk. Check in was fast and the employees were very kind. Because we checked in late and the restaurants were closed, they sent sandwiches up to our room without us having to ask. Their customer service was refreshing for the Caribbean. Now for my lasting impressions - As mentioned, we are US Citizens. Most guests at this hotel are not. I don't think the nationality of a guest matters, but you find they tend to cater more-so to the UK. Daily tea in the afternoon and 220V outlets in ALL spa side rooms are examples of this. All other outlets in the main building are 110V which is standard in the US. We were originally given a great ocean view room on the spa side of the resort. Luckily we were moved to the main building after voicing the concern. There are not a lot of rooms (smaller hotel), so I'm sure this isn't always an option. Traveling with a converter would be best. I will admit, the rooms in the main building are nicer. Not only is the view more spectacular, but even the building seems to be in better shape, newer. No matter your location, your room will be clean. This we found to be consistent. The spa side also has the whistling frogs, which are loud at night. You can hardly hear them if you are ocean front. The pool is pretty, nice location for relaxing, but a bit cloudy water and floating debris make it uncomfortable for just hanging out in the water. Also, don't worry about crossing the busy road. The locals will stop for you at the crosswalk. Watch the buses, most won't stop. We ate at all of the restaurants, the food is very good, especially at fEast. The only restaurant we didn't care for was Rosso Vivo. The buffets were good, but standard. I would have liked to see a unique morning juice bar or something that would have stepped it up a bit, but it was adequate. Also, no restaurants or buffet is open 24x7. Room service is available, but will run you $5.00USD (plus tip) each time you order and the late night (after 10pm) menu is very limited. Our overall suggestion would be to use the hotel for it's breakfast and book a late dinner. Use the day to explore the island and experience their culture. There is so much to see and do. It's beautiful and safe to explore, just be smart. The locals are great, so kind. We never felt intimidated by our surroundings. Also, stop off at the gas station and fill your fridge with some drinks. Your minibar is only filled every other day and it won't be enough to last you. The bar is open until 11:00, but afterwards you're on your own. Take the free catamaran trip, it's a nice time. It's only 2 hours. We took our own mask and snorkel and wished we would have taken our fins. They do not supply this. The small catamaran is a calm ride up the coast and they'll serve you two drinks. The snorkeling in front of the hotel isn't too bad. We saw a lot of puffer fish, an eel and even had a giant school of fish swim past us a few times. The best location seemed to be to the right of the roped off area in front of the hotel. We also had a Swedish Massage at the Spa. We did the hour long couple massage. The massage itself was wonderful. I usually like a very deep massage, but they had great technique and would rank it as one of my best. The facilities for the couple massage were not the nicest, but again it was clean and not an issue. The hotel is staffed with wonderful people who go out of their way to make you happy. They will get to know you on a personal level, which is far more than we've come to expect at a lot of the destinations we tend to visit. It's a unique island with a lot of personality. If you are debating this hotel or the island, I feel you can't go wrong with either!

I've been wanting to travel to Barbados and saw an offer on Groupon so I took it. Barbados itself is wonderful - clean, friendly, safe, warm. The resort shared the same characteristics. On top of that it was secluded and offered a lot of privacy for couples. This is not a resort for kids. The food was fantastic, especially for an all inclusive. The drinks were strong and plentiful. The only drawback was that it was a 20 - 25 minute ride to Bridgetown. Other than that, I would definitely go back.

The majority of staff were great. Delores in housekeeping was so excellent she should be a manager. She made sure our needs were always met even if they were outside of her primary responsibilities in housekeeping. One of the bartenders and one of the younger male waitstaff was a bit brusque and rude. The bathroom in 302 has no outlet for hairdryers or shavers. The other outlets were inconveniently placed.

We had a wonderful, relaxing time at Waves. The beach was breathtaking. Our minor complaints include: we were hoping for more variety in the menus and were disappointed that the menu in the restaurants did not change during the time that we were there. We also did not ever have our mini bar refilled, this was not a big issue and I'm sure it would have been done if we had asked. Our room was perfect, clean and a good size. Our spa treatment was also wonderful. We especially enjoyed the complimentary catamaran cruise and the use of the water sports equipment. We hope to come again in the future.

When our original travel plans were derailed by Hurricane Irene, I had to call on three separate days before I was able to get in touch with the right person at Waves to confirm that I could reschedule our stay for later in the week, but once I was able to reach them, they were very easy-going about our date change.
The check-in process was quick and easy and within 10 minutes of arrival, my husband and I were snuggled into our room. We were on the adults-only Spa block of the resort, and our room was cozy with a semi-private porch area looking out to the garden and pool. We loved everything about our room except the shower and toilet. There was NO water pressure which made it unbelievably difficult to wash my hair, which is thick but not very long. It usually took about three flushes to clear the toilet of the simplest waste.
The other thing about our room was the power. We're American and when we did our research on Barbados, everything said the island uses US power outlets and we wouldn't need to bring any adapters. However, the spa block at Waves is on UK power, which was not made known to us before our arrival and finding that type of adapter on the island was literally impossible. Luckily, the main block was on US power, so we were able to charge our camera at the front desk. Just be prepared if you're traveling from the US and staying in the Spa!
The staff at the resort is exceptionally friendly and helpful, and I was almost always greeted by my name even when there were different people at the desk. It was like Cheers! The restaurant food was incredible and the ambiance is very romantic for dinner and laid back for lunch and breakfast. We tried all three restaurants for dinner and the only one we found lacking was Rosso Vivo, where the service was so slow that we ended up leaving before anyone even made it to us to take our dessert order. The food there was good, but not spectacular as it was at Seascapes and fEast. Tip: If you eat at fEast for dinner and they have the bbq pulled pork listed as a starter, ORDER IT! It's a sushi roll, and it was the most delicious thing I have ever eaten. Ever. Even my husband who doesn't like sushi wanted more.
I could go on and on and on about this place because I really enjoyed my stay. Our trip was far too short, and I would definitely go back to the Waves Beach Resort.

We got this deal through Groupon and it was pretty good considering the cost. Rooms were very nice, spa treatment was good and staff was friendly. The Escape at Prospect was the most relaxing experience we ever had. All meals provided. Clean, neat rooms, great facilities, excellent front desk and bar staff {would love to call names but don't want to call wrong}, accessible shopping.
Met an adorable couple as well, we still keep in touch!
Food was magnificent, variety of drinks was great.
Only had one bad experience at the beach with an uninformed beach staff member, very upsetting, but wasn't enough to spoil our week. Improvements needed where due.
We really look forward to returning to the upgraded facilities sometime once life permits us. Keep it up!

Just back from a week at the Escape Hotel & Spa. Our second visit and everything was beyond our expectations. My wife had an accident on the second day in the car park of the Spa section, spraining her ankle badly in a rainwater gully. The hotel staff were immediately on the scene and Cherri-Ann gave first-aid assistance and all the staff were constantly asking after my wife's condition. Sandra Bellman, Guest Services Manager, was really efficient and helpful. They recommended a medical centre in Holetown, which was excellent and everything was done to make the remaining stay at the hotel comfortable and enjoyable. Wheelchair access was a little difficult but help was always available. Super stay in a De Luxe room with everything superb.
A minor matter, it would be even better if it was Non-Smoking!

we stayed at the gap last month for one week, 2 adults 2 boys aged 6 and 8, we had a great time the Hotel was basic and worth the 3 stars, our room was extremely large with a separate bedroom for us, much bigger than expected clean and well kept by housekeeping staff. the food was good, the beach was amazing, water lovely and warm and plenty of beds and umbrellas, if you take a trip recommend the Turtle Man that comes on the beach, took us to the shipwreck and to swim with the turtles, it was far cheaper and far better than the hotel or virgin trip.

We came here to get married last year. We were not sure what to expect after reading different reviews but it turned out to be the best holiday ever. We arrived late at night and a table was booked for our tea so we didn't miss out on food and the next day when we woke up refreshed we were welcomed with the beautiful scenery outside our window.
Food was delicious and you never went hungry or thirsty. They even put on snacks in the afternoon at aroung 4pm which is worth knowing about if you get a bit peckish.
The beach was beautiful with a beach bar at hand. Snorkells, canoes and catamarans are available to take out for a bit of fun. The snorkelling is well worth a go as the fish you see are amazing. A local boat trip was also available with the hotel on a Sunday. He was great and took you along the coast to go swimming with the turtles. This is a great experience and you don't need to be able to swim.
There is a spa and large pool across the road. This is very peaceful with co

Loved the holiday overall, Food spot on, never fighting for a table at anytime and the set meals were truly 4* We where worried by the comments to the birds, but don't leave your table 'unmanned' and you're fine and the birds don't come out at night so your evening meal is 'bird free' We didn't know that our daughter couldn't use the pool in the Spa area and the other pool is small, but once we over came our initial disappointment everything else was great. Great beach and never a problem getting a spot on the beach. Book the glass bottom boat rather than the Rep excursions, its much better value and the rum punch is great. Will come back to this hotel.

Just returned from a week at Escape and Spa with Virgin holidays and had a great time. Was very pleased with the hotel and setting. Virgin were great and the free catamaran trip was excellent with CJ! The superior room we were in was lovely; spacious and clean with a fantastic view. The only thing was that it was on the first floor, right over the lounge bar and was noisy at night. If you want to go to sleep early, then you need to be further away from the entertainment. However, it always finished by 10.30! The staff were very helpful and the atmosphere was friendly. I would recommend the place.

The Beach was kept clean and there seemed to be enough chairs/umbrellas for everyone (its just a pity the beach was washed away which made things a little cramped at times - but that's nature doing it's thing!)
Thank you. Will return - again!

My husband and i have just returned from a fantastic week at escape at the gap. The hotel was fantastic and the staff were excellent. The rooms are nice, simply decorated and adequete for our needs and cleaned daily. The hotel staff were lovely, polite and friendly, always smiling and would happily joke around with the hotel guests. The food was lovely, a bit 'samey' especially if you were there two weeks, but it varied slightly at every mealtime (the macaroni cheese pie is delicious!)The a la carte restaurant is also very good, and the food is always perfect. We travelled with Virgin and our hotel rep was Shontelle. She is lovely, very chatty and bubbly, and any problems she would sort out for you straight away.
The beach is fantastic, right on the doorstep of the hotel. The beach staff are excellent, and we had a wonderful sail with Omar!
The whole island and hotel is absoulutely fantastic, and although we said we would never visit a country twice, this hotel has certainly cha

My wife and i stayed at the Escape for 2 weeks to celebrate our aniverssary.
We had a fantastic time the spa side is a heaven the treatments are very good the pool great and the staff on the whole complex are great.
We thoroughly enjoyed the eating experience especially the garden resturant, where the food presentation was fantastic.
If you are going to explore the island by car try and stop at a place called cattlewash near to Bathsheba on the East coast, the beach is fabulous, take lots of suncream though because it is very windy but the sun is also very strong.
Going back again this July can't wait.

We have just returned from the Escape and Spa Hotel, I would recommend anyone who is visiting Barbados to go to this Hotel.
Rooms.............
We upgraded to a superior room and it was an excellent choice, we had brilliant views looking at at the beach and the sea.Bed was massive.
Food and Drink............
The food was really good and so was the choice of cocktails.
Linda makes wicked Pizzas, omelettes, poached eggs etc.
The chefs were really friendly and helpful.
Staff...........
Most of the staff at the hotel are brilliant, Sandra, Prudence, Kimberley, La Toya, Wendel, Ronnie, Ray, Robert Riley.
Some of the staff are miserable, but they didnt spoil our holiday. They are trying to train the staff to be more friendly.
Beach..........
The beach was really nice, the first time you set foot on the beach people are trying to get you to :-
Go on a trip round Barbados (Mr Payne)
Buy jewelery (Sam the man)
Buy Aloe Vera.
Just tell them No a few times and they will leave you

We have only just returned from Barbados i.e. Wednesday 4th Oct and have to say we have a fantastic holiday staying at Escape Hotel and Spa. They do know how to make you relaxed and just enjoy your holiday. It is always nice when people remember your name and what you like to drink and that is what happens at the Escape. I feel I should mention that one lunch time the restaurant had been very busy and at one point ran out of a couple of dishes of food - these were quickly replenished - but not quick enough for a couple of guests, who thought the end was nigh!!! "Theres no potatoes" was one comment!!
The selection of food was fantastic, something to suit everyone.

We stayed in a deluxe room in the main building which was definitely worth the extra - waking up to the waves crashing just below us every day was amazing, this to me truely was paradise.
The staff went out of their way to be helpful and were really friendly. The wedding itself was relaxed and personal and highly recommended.

we booked this hotel for our wedding and family holiday too. The Deluxe room was excellant and the staff especially Sandra were brillant too. Our wedding day couldn't have gone any better and we finished the evening at the Garden restuarant which was a lovely end to our special day. The food was always at a very good standard all through our holiday and the hotel and facilties were always clean and tidy at all times. We will come back again and highly recommend the Escape Hotel & Spa to everybody!!

we stayed here for the first time and it was excelent. the managers and staff were the best we have ever had in a hotel. nothing was too much trouble. the only problem we encountered was the early morning rush to get sun beds with umbrella's, The first few days we did not put our towels down on the beds as the hotel asked you not to do it but haveing tried later on in the day to get an umbrella we took to rushing down early in the morning to do it. still we will be booking for next year for our ruby wedding anniversary.

“Our 6th Terrific holiday as usual at this hotel....”
By Brian & Carol Phillips, West Sussex
01 May 2005
Our 6th Terrific holiday as usual at this hotel.
Disappointed by some of the cut backs ie No Catamaran, no bottle of rum and the blue towels were a bit on the rough side, specially if you were burnt. These cut backs may be due to the Virgin influence and the need to keep the prices competitive.
Nice to see the red wine had improved.
As usual the staff were superb in sorting out any problems that arose. Sandra and all the staff are to be commended for their interest and attention to detail.
We recommend the hotel particularly for adult couples

We are due back for our sixth visit at the end of August.

It you want some added luxuries, book a deluxe room, you will pay a bit more for it but it is worth it.

We have had 2 wonderful holidays at Escape int he pastand have just booked to return in August this year and we can't wait. My 13 year old son is looking foward to meeting up with some of guys that work in the water sports team who really looked after him and taught him to sail last year, nothing was too much trouble, although I have heard Tony has left which is a real shame, he really knew how to make sure people enjoyed themselves, we are also hoping that Prudence and Ash are still around as they are so much fun and great with kids. can't wait to see Sandra, Honor, Darian and Kenny, and the rest of the Escape team.

I ve only just discovered this site but felt i had to leave a review. This hotel is brilliant the spa pool was amazing, the staff were friendly and they make the most amazing fresh banana milkshakes. We stayed at the hotel while on honeymoon in 2003 and didn't want to leave. Hoping to return to barbados in 2009.

This was our second visit to Escape. We had went the year before, got engaged there and came back on honeymoon. The best time of our lives. The hotel staff, especially Sandra made our trips extra special. The food was terrific in both restuarants and the atmosphere just made you feel part of the Escape Family. Cant wait to get back to the "Jewel in the Carribean Sea" with our baby daughter so she can experience it for herself.

Just got back. Spent 3 weeks at the Escape. My second visit in 2 years, only this time, I married there (08/09/08). My new husband and I are chuffed to pieces! Cherry-Ann was fantastic, a true gem, and our wedding day was more than we could ever have asked for! The weather, setting, company and organisation was second to none! PERFECT! Sandra, as always was an absolute angel, and we will miss her very much. Our housekeeper, Julianna, couldn't have worked harder to make sure our stay was comfortable and clean. All the staff were incredibly friendly and polite, the food was phenomenal (as always) and the whole stay was magical! We will definately be returning within the next couple of years with the children, and again after that to celebrate anniversaries! I would absolutely recomend Escape Hotel and Spa to anyone! Thanks everyone for a trully special holiday! We both miss you all loads and will see you all again soon! xxx

My husband and i got married at the hotel back in September 2000 and had a fantastic time. We stayed in a deluxe room in the main building and to wake up to that view is the best thing in the world. The hotel is ideal for people wanting a chilled out holiday who enjoy good food. The food was amazing, we never had a baf meal. Since our visit to Escape, we have been travelling around to other destinations but so far nothing has beaten Escape and it is the only hotel we will definitely return to.
