    Les Rocquettes Hotel
    "Golden Wedding Break"
    By , Southampton, UK
We arrived at the hotel and was pleasantly greeted by Michelle who immediately upgraded us to better accommodation. The room was of a high standard and clean. The staff were mainly pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was excellent. As our room was facing the car park and the Oak Bar, it was very noisy in the evenings and until late. As my wife is a vegetarian she was extremely disappointed that there was no vegetarian dish on the Oak Bar. We enjoyed our stay at the hotel although it is rather a walk and climb uphill from town.

General Information

Once a country mansion, the main house at Les Rocquettes was built in 1765 on the outskirts of St Peter Port, Guernsey's capital.

In 1946 the house was first transformed into an hotel by the Johnson family who continued to own and run the hotel until 1996. Les Rocquettes Hotel was then acquired by the Sarnia Hotels - a family owned hotel group that operates three quality St. Peter Port hotels in Guernsey.

In the last few years the hotel has been substantially enlarged and altered adding additional accommodation, multi purpose function room and health suite with indoor swimming pool.

Les Rocquettes Hotel has an excellent location, being within walking distance of the town centre of St Peter Port, and Beau Sejour - Guernsey's main sports and leisure centre.

The hotel has ample car parking and is well served by the Guernsey bus service.

I cannot believe the quality of this Hotel for the price, it is exceptionally good value for money . The staff are an absolute delight and nothing is too much trouble for them . As a lone traveller there have gone out of their way to offer a very personal service.

We are entirely happy with our 8 night stay at Les Rocquettes. We opted for half-board and that is highly recommended. The breakfast options are varied with a very good range of really good food be that Continental or 'Full English'. The service is also quick, efficient, well mannered and friendly. Dinner is high quality with several selections of really great meals, sadly (for me) there were usually only 2 dessert choices and a cheeseboard option. However the starters, main courses and desserts were all quite excellent. The servcie and staff were equally excellent. There is an option to 'exchange' and have your dinner at another 2 hotels, we did it once and the dinner at Moores Hotel was equally high end. HB for 8 nights was also great value. The rooms was bright, quiet, very clean and well maintained, we had a balcony over the rear garden. We made great use of the excellent swimming pool, steam room, sauna and jaccusi but carefully avoided the well equipped and very modern Gym! The Hotel is about a 1 mile easy walk into central St Peterport and about 3 miles from the beach at Cobo Bay, with many other 'touristy' things also close-by. We enjoyed out stay and intend to return, we have no complaints whatsoever and highly recommend Les Roc to everybody.

We had a lovely relaxing break here. We used the pool and saunas, which were never too busy. The breakfast was fabulous, because it was individually cooked for you, not sitting as a buffet, and one could have haddock, kippers as well as the usual fare. The rooms were very comfortable, and clean. It was a walk of about 20 minutes downhill into town, where the restaurants are fabulous, if you like seafood, especially. We got a taxi back up the hill for under a fiver. A trip to Victor Hugos house is a must.

My wife and I stayed at Les Rocquettes for 5 nights, we had a premier double at the rear of the hotel and found both the location and room excellent, the room was clean, quiet and airy. The breakfast was freshly cooked and plenty of choice, all the staff in the hotel we found polite, helpful and cheerful. We have been to Guernsey for the last 7 years and this was the best hotel we have stayed in. We would stay here again.

I would highly recommend this hotel to stay in. We have stayed several times and in fact this is where we held our wedding reception 13 years ago! Never had a bad stay. Staff are really friendly, rooms are lovely and food is great. We went into town for the evening and walked back to the hotel after. Perfect location.

A colleague and I stayed at Les Rocquettes for a business trip. Very happy with the hotel but unfortunately we didn't get to use the pool. Would happily stay here again although my only complaint would be the fact that we were charged extra to have a café latte with our breakfast. Given that it's exactly the same ingredients that go into a latte as a normal white coffee I think that it's rather cheeky in this modern age!

Overall we were very pleased with the treatment we received on our overnight stay. The Reception staff were very welcoming and helpful, the room was adequate for the price, clean and well appointed. We ordered room service which arrived in good time, and, although slightly over-cooked, was enjoyable. Our only critisism would be regarding the breakfast. The food was lovely and plenty to choose from although we felt that cereals, fruit, yogurts, juices etc would have been better if displayed for self serve, buffet style, rather than ALL on a list which we had to hastily read through whilst a rather bored waitress stood over us with pen poised!

When it was time to leave we wished we had booked to stay for new year too, here i am New Years eve wondering whats happening on Guernsey and at the Rocquettes tonight. Your staff are a credit to you Derek, cant wait to come back again, didnt miss Tenerife one bit, well maybe the sun..

Despite my late arrival thanks to lovelly airline efficiency the hotel staff were both very friendly and helpful. I was soon in my very well appointed room and enjoying the fresh air from the balcony with views of the gardens. Although situated by the main road there was no disruptive effect from the traffic. If you are a fellow travelling engineer who enjoys a couple of beers after a long day then the selection and presentation is great. The real ales were really well kept and hit the spot, no doubt aided by the conversation with the friendly bar staff. All in all I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Guernsey.

Beautiful & nice place quite near St. Peters Port; good free busservice from the hotel to town (except for sundays ;-), also just walking distance for enthusiastic people. Comfortable room, good breakfast. Dinner could be more special for this expensive place. Hotel is stylish and beautifully decorated.
