    Old Bank House Hotel
"Outdated and not worth the cost."
    By , HOVE, UK
My partner and I stayed here for two nights whilst visiting Jersey for a friend's wedding Hotel - hotel and room itself was outdated but relatively clean. The windowsills in the rooms were dirty and staines and the cups for the tea and coffee were also dirty - with only one saucer and one spoon between two people. The bed was comfy - that's probably the only plus. The bar below is open late and open to the locals so we had lots of noise until gone past midnight - our room was situated above the courtyard. Breakfast - Is served from 08:30 - 09:30. I think this is a little late and should be from 07:30 which is an average time for many hotels (and which then accommodates guests with early departures) On the first morning my Partner and I were the first people to arrive for breakfast and the area was set up for breakfast with some tables set up for dinner. We were instructed to sit at the table by the door, which I didn't want to do as we did not want to be bashed about by people coming in and out. We decided to move to the table by the window - we were then told off for moving tables, being told "I told you to sit there for a reason, this table is set up for dinner and not for breakfast" - the only thing different was we had wine glasses... I apologised and said that we did not want to be seated by the door and as we were the only people in the room we didn't think it was an issue, at which point we had a mumbled response reinforcing that things are done for a reason. I do not take kindly to be told off for siting on a table of my choice - especially as we were the only people in the dining area at the time - moving two wine glasses off of a table to make it "breakfast ready" is not hard. Breakfast itself is ok but very minimal and the tatty scones are not fresh they are frozen - don't waste your 4 item limit on them. On the second morning the woman who greeted us for breakfast was much more polite and respectful who was very pleasant. We wish we had encountered her the first morning - thank you for being nice! Location is beautiful and there is a cool parrot in the courtyard - the only other two plusses. So overall the experience was not great, we definitely did not think it was value for money and we would not stay here again nor recommend to a friend.

WE stayed in a double room for four nights last week and found the room to be clean and spacious. Only problem was the wash basin was in the room, and not the bathroom. Rooms were cleaned every day to a high standard. The restaurant attached to the hotel was excellent, We ate there on our last night, but would of done it more if we'd known how good it was. Staff are very friendly and helpful.

The hotel is in an ideal location- right in Gorey Village and close to the harbour and beach. Stayed in a twin room for 11 nights. Our visit was clouded by the fact that for 4 nights from 16-20 August we did not have any hot water- this is reflected in the overall rating. The issue was eventually rectified. Apart from that, the room itself was lovely- beds were very comfortable and plenty of space. Breakfasts were good- but would have preferred a bit more choice on the continental side. The lady who served the afternoon teas was fabulous- could not do enough for you if within her control.

The accommodation was clean and comfortable, and served a decent breakfast, although some fresh fruit would have enhanced the meal. It is located in a quiet area and away from the busyness of St Helier, but with good links to the rest of the island via the bus service.

The Old Bank House Hotel was a good budget, basic choice for our weekend break in Jersey. It is within easy walking distance to the harbour and the restaurants, as well as the village shops. Unfortunately our first night was the closing ceremony of the Jersey Island games so the street outside was a bit noisy as we were in a ground floor room at the front of the hotel, however our second night was much better! Breakfast was great, with plenty of options and great service.

The Old Bank House provided everything we needed in an hotel and was run in an efficient and friendly manner. Good breakfast (although we would have liked some fruit as well as juice, and a healthy cereal with the others) and bar service (no ale, but that is the norm on Jersey), attractive beer garden with parrot and happy three-legged cat, very comfortable room with lots of hot water etc., good location with parking (also in short supply on Jersey), and lovely service throughout.

From arrival at the hotel the owner and staff couldn't do enough to accommodate us. The rooms although quite basic were very clean and well presented. The breakfasts were amazing and well worth having, we didn't even have to eat again during the day as we were so full. The location was good and only a short walk from Gorey village and the buses that go all over the island. Very happy I booked this hotel and will definitely be staying here again on our next visit to Jersey

Comfortable, clean bedroom and generous, well cooked breakfast in brightly decorated basement dining room. The dining room and staircase are adorned with fantastic pictures of ballooning. Within strolling distance of Gorey restaurants, frequent bus service to St Helier and beach. Ample parking available in private car park. Pity the bar never seemed to be open in the evening during the week we were there.

All the staff were very helpful and friendly though it often took a bit of searching to find the person manning Reception. It would also have been useful if there had been an evening meal facility - there is an afternoon tea service up to 4.30pm - though the proprietor will provide plates and cutlery for patrons wishing to eat fish and chips (purchased at the chippy across the road) in the hotel bar. The breakfasts were great! A room safe would have obviated the need to carry all our important documents/spare cash around with us all day. These minor things aside we found the hotel comfortable, friendly and clean and will probably book again.

We were so lucky that we picked the Old Bank House Hotel to stay in. It was just what we wanted - quiet, clean, friendly, and lots of thought had gone into providing those little extras that make all the difference to a hotel stay. The staff went out of their way to make us comfortable, and we were delighted with the comforts in our room, the cleanliness and the whole 'feel' of the place. It's probably not the best for young people or children as there is no pool or other activities, but for couples looking for a quite break it's just ideal. We definitely plan to return!

We really enjoyed our stay at The Old Bank House Hotel. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. Our room was clean and cleaned daily and clean towels provided on a daily basis. The breakfast was good and adequate, and served promptly upon arrival in the dining room. The garden is also a bonus to be able to sit and enjoy a drink or tea. It was good value for money, and pricewise in line with other local hotels. It is a pity that an evening meal is not offered, other than a couple of local restaurants, a walk to Gorey Harbour is required to find a good selection eating places
